Coaches

Personal Training is just that…Personal. In my opinion, if you want to be considered a personal trainer, it’s not just knowing exercise physiology or being a nutritional expert. A personal trainer is a coach, a motivator, a listener, someone honest, someone who truly cares about the process and the journey to help their clients achieve their fitness goals. It’s being adaptable because every person is different and what works for one may not work for another.

I see “personal trainers” at big box gyms on a daily basis that are just going through the motions. They are either on their cell phones, showing no enthusiasm towards their clients or not pushing them hard enough to achieve their goals. They’re not coaches. To them it’s a job. Achieving fitness goals are HARD. It takes hard work and dedication and it isn’t easy. If it was easy, everyone would be walking around with a six pack.

You need life experience to be a good personal trainer. As a 40+ year old, I’ve experienced the physical body and metabolism changes that come with age, coached busy moms with equally as busy schedules, raised two children of my own and understand that finding time to dedicate to fitness can be challenging.    like that someone in there younger years but a 22 year old who’s metabolism hasn’t slowed down and can still eat whatever they want and stay somewhat fit isn’t the proper coach for a 40 year old professional or a 35 year old busy mother of 3. They don’t get it…I do. I’m a 46 year old that spent the first 20 years of my professional life as the CEO of a large Toronto internet firm. So I understand the daily work grind. I also have 3 teenage kids at home so I also understand that time is valuable. And I’m in better shape at 46 then I was at 23…because of experience, knowledge and dedication.

I’ve been passionate about health and fitness my entire life, all 46 years of it. I played a variety of sports at the highest level as a child and teen and continue pushing myself today…because age is just a number.

There is a saying that applies to professional athletes that states “Father Time is Undefeated” I always say that might be that case, but I’m not going down without a fight. I’d like you to adopt the same philosophy and lets fight it together.
